Details Gwynedd Dental Associates Restorative and Cosmetic Care
Caring for you and your smile
As the name implies, restorative dentistry deals with the restoration and replacement of your teeth and healthy smile. Whether it is from improper dental care or simply the natural life of your teeth, there can come a point when your dental health requires far more than a simple cleaning. Fillings, crowns, inlays, are all common procedures used to increase the strength and function of your teeth when damage has occurred. The earlier we can intervene in the case of a cavity, infection, or dental injury, the more likely we are to achieve good results and save your teeth.
◾ One Day Custom Crowns
The E4D Dentist System offers an unparalleled dental experience, enabling us to provide you with a high quality dental restoration in a single appointment. We are pleased to offer same day crowns. Using E4DTM technology, we take a fast, clean digital impression. Then we design and create your restoration in our on-site lab. No more uncomfortable temporaries or return visits. Your entire treatment from start to finish can be completed in just one visit. With E4D, we can offer you the dental care you need and the convenience you want.
◾ One Day Custom Bridges
We are extremely proud to say we are the first dental practice in the United States to offer and fabricate a same day permanent bridge. Our E4D Dental System allows us to provide an unparalleled dental experience. We can provide you with the highest quality dental restorations in a single appointment. No more uncomfortable temporaries or return visits. Your entire treatment from start to finish can be completed in just one visit. With E4D, we can offer you the dental care you need and the convenience you want.
A bridge is a popular solution for the replacement of missing teeth. If there are teeth in the area that are adequate in number, and sufficiently healthy and strong to support the artificial teeth, this may be a good restorative option. In order to prepare for a bridge to be placed, the adjacent teeth are reduced in size by removing the outer layers. This makes room for the multi-unit porcelain crowns to fit over top. A prosthetic tooth (or teeth) is suspended between adjacent teeth to provide a functional and cosmetic replacement for the missing tooth.
Why Are Implants Better Than a Removable Denture?
Dental Implants have quickly become the treatment of choice for most patients wanting to replace a missing tooth or teeth. Most significant among these is longevity. Once an implant is placed it is most often the last dental treatment that will ever be needed in that area. Implants are designed to function the same as your natural teeth and replace the missing root and crown of the tooth. You are able to brush, floss and eat just as if a natural tooth is there. There are no special precautions that need to be taken as there are with a bridge or denture.
Why are Implants Recommended?
Implants also help to prevent future bone loss and tooth loss. When you have a missing tooth or teeth, the bone and gum in that area begins to reduce down from lack of use. This causes surrounding teeth to “drift” or migrate toward the empty space. Also the tooth above or below the empty space will "extrude" out of the socket. With this type of shifting, the biting forces on the remaining teeth are increased and no longer evenly distributed causing potential damage. Placement of our implants will maintain or correct these surrounding structures.
Our Implants are made of the strongest titanium on the market and are inserted by our periodontist with precision and the most professional care. Through a three-step process we can replace missing teeth with single, multiple, or full arch implants. This will be the last dental treatment you ever need to replace these missing teeth.
How Does Getting An Implant work?
Having an implant placed is a three step process as illustrated below. Our board certified and experience periodontist is more than happy to walk you through the process during your implant consultation. Call to schedule your consultation today and be on your way to healthy and beautiful smile.
◾ Mercury Detox Program
The American Dental Association (ADA) estimates that 180 million people in the U.S. bear amalgam or silver dental fillings containing Mercury. Mercury is a toxic material and may have a contributing factor in certain negative health conditions. What once was common practice in dentistry is now thought to be a last resort or not an acceptable form of dental restoration at all. This is why at Gwynedd Dental, we are proud to be a mercury free office. All of our dental restorations are made with mercury free resins, glass ionomer, or porcelain. With our popular mercury detox program we can rid you of those old mercury laden fillings and replace them with beautiful tooth colored restorations in a single visit. At Gwynedd Dental we care for you and your smile.
◾ One Day Custom Inlays and Onlays
When your tooth is too damaged to support a filling but not damaged enough for a crown, you end up somewhere in the middle. Capping a damaged tooth unnecessarily with a dental crown removes more tooth structure than needed, but a large dental filling can weaken the remaining structure of the tooth. Dental inlays and onlays are the same kind of restoration, but they cover different proportions of the tooth. A dental inlay fills the space in between the cusps, or rounded edges, at the center of the tooth's surface. The dental onlay works like an inlay but covers one or more cusps or the entire biting surface of the tooth. Because of their extensive coverage, onlays are sometimes referred to as "partial crowns." Of course whatever treatment you may need we will provide an unparalleled dental experience with our E4D Dental System. We will provide you with the highest quality inlay and onlay restorations start to finish in just a single appointment.
Dental prosthetics or dentures are a removable and less expensive option for the replacement of missing teeth. There are two types of dentures we can custom fit to meet your needs:
Partials can replace a single missing tooth or several teeth in the mouth. The denture relies on support from the other remaining teeth to hold its position. Partial dentures are also a common temporary cosmetic treatment during the first stage of implant placements where the crown of the implant is still missing.
A full upper or lower denture replaces all of the teeth in your upper and/or lower jaw. This type of removable denture relies on support from the ridge of the gum and underlying bone to hold them in place. Also suction between the denture and the underlying gum of your hard or soft palate will help to hold it in place. In some instances, an adhesive may need to be applied to the denture for a fully secure fit. We are also happy to offer full arch implant-secured dentures as a superior option. With this option the denture is secured with dental implants so that no other support is needed. This option, in most cases, is the most comfortable and long lasting option. Please read more about implant technology also listed on this page.
We encourage all of our patients that wear a removable denture to bring them to every dental checkup. We will professionally clean the denture and make any adjustments, like clasp tightening, that may be needed.

◾ Professional Laser Whitening
Our in-office professional laser whitening system is clinically proven to get your teeth their whitest in just one hour. Over time, the natural aging process and your lifestyle (smoking or drinking coffee, tea, or wine) can stain your teeth. This process can achieve long lasting, naturally brilliant and uniform results. So sit back and relax for an hour while our dental professionals oversee your safe and gentle teeth whitening. Here’s what to expect from your appointment.
Here's how the laser whitening system works:
1. Whitening gel is carefully applied to your teeth.
2. The gel is then activated by a gentle blue light for 20 minutes
while you relax and watch TV or listen to music.
3. This process is repeated twice more before you go home
with a naturally brilliant new smile (and your personal
"Before & After" photos).
◾ Custom Whitening Trays
Having a beautiful smile may be easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they have been dreaming of with our simple, easy-to-use at home bleaching trays. Our custom trays wrap every angle and surface of the tooth to create a beautiful uniform look. In just 1 hour per day you can recreate your smile in the convenience of your own home!
How do custom bleaching trays work?
For the initial treatment you will where the trays for 1 hour every day from 5 to 10 days. Depending on your own personal amount of discoloration, and your desired level of brightness the treatment times will vary. At the end of this time, significant whitening will have occurred. In some cases, the change is nothing short of brilliant. And here is an added benefit! You now have your own personal trays to touch up your smile when discoloration begins to creep back in over time. Touch ups usually only require one or two days of treatment to maintain the shade you reached on the initial bleaching. Touch up times will vary but are usually recommended every 4-6 months.
So you have decided to proceed with our custom whitening trays. Great! Here’s what to expect from your appointment.
A quick and painless impression will be taken of your upper and lower teeth. While you wait, our lab technician will then use this impression to make a life-like mold or model of your teeth. Once the model is created we use it to custom fit our resin trays to perfectly match the shape of every single one of your teeth. Once the trays are fitted they are ready to be used in the mouth and will snuggly hold the bleach against your teeth. You can take them home the same day and begin creating your new smile!
By offering the latest in bleaching technology, we offer a safe method for recreating your beautiful and brilliant smile. For confidence in appearance, our bleaching technology allows us to promise improvements in yellowing, aging, and stained teeth without altering or damaging existing structures or dental work.
◾ Custom Ultra Thin Veneers
If you have ever considered improving your smile you’ve found the right place here at Gwynedd Dental. We can help you achieve the smile of your dreams. Our ultra-thin custom veneers are designed to deliver a beautiful result with a simple painless process. With our revolutionary custom veneers we will provide you with the unique opportunity of seeing gaps, stains or crooked teeth transformed into a full, white, straight smile.
With new technology and over 30 years of experience, you can have the smile you’ve always wanted in less time and with far more comfort than you ever imagined. Our veneers are digitally designed to be ultra-thin (about as thin as a contact lens), so they can be applied seamlessly over your teeth to deliver a natural looking smile with little to no tooth removal.
Not All Veneers Are Made the Same. You Deserve the Best, So Accept No Imitations.
Traditional or old technology veneers are generally much thicker, and require the irreversible removal of most of the healthy tooth structure. This extensive preparation technique frequently requires several shots and anesthesia to minimize sensitivity and pain during the procedure. The patient will also have to wear plastic temporary veneers for over two weeks while the permanent ones are being made in an outsourced lab.
At Gywnedd Dental our minimally invasive veneer placement technique typically eliminates the need for shots and temporaries all together. In many cases the permanent veneers may even be placed in one appointment. No more waiting two weeks to look and feel great. While many dentists may offer veneers, not all dental offices have an on-sight lab and training in the advanced veneer technology we offer at Gwynedd Dental.
Here’s What to Expect from Your Appointment:
After your consultation, we will take a quick and painless impression of your upper and lower teeth. We then use these impressions to create a model of your teeth, which is used along with photos and other records to create your custom veneers. We do all this on-premise in our on-sight laboratory. Unlike traditional veneers, there is typically no need for extensive drilling, shots or unsightly plastic temporaries.
Once your veneers are made the dentist will begin the placement process. To ensure a good fit, the teeth are moderately etched to prepare the tooth for placement. The veneers are then bonded one by one on top of your natural tooth. Then, the dentist will check and adjust your bite to make sure your contacts are well balanced and come together accurately. This helps to give a more comfortable fit and prevents chipping through the course of daily function. Once everything is completed you are free to eat, drink, and smile as you wish, with your beautiful new teeth.
That’s it!!! Now you can have the beautiful natural looking smile you’ve always wanted!
